>The AVA has detected melamine in three more products imported from China.

They are: Cadbury Choclairs - Blueberry Flavour; Cadbury Choclairs - Coffee Flavour; and Panda Dairy Whole Milk Powder (industrial pack).

AVA said the Panda Dairy Whole Milk Powder is meant for manufacturing use and not available in the retail market. The milk powder has also been sealed in the manufacturer's warehouse since the suspension on 19 September 2008.
"We would like to assure the public that the milk powder has not been used in any food production," said AVA in a statement.

The latest detection brings the total number of affected products to 13. All importers will be required to destroy the tainted products under AVA's supervision. Melamine is an industry chemical not approved for use in food
manufacture.

AVA has suspended the import and sale of all milk and milk products from China since 19 September 2008.

Anyone finding such products still on sale should inform AVA immediately.

The statement added: "We would also like to assure the public that the levels of melamine detected in the affected products are low and hence unlikely to result in any adverse health effect. Consumers have to consume large quantities of the contaminated products over a prolonged period of time to be at risk of potential ill effects on health.

"As melamine is not allowed for use in food, AVA will continue to suspend the import and sale of milk and
milk products from China until we are very sure that such products are safe for consumption."
