The winner of 2009's Are You Men's Health Enough? event will finally be revealed at a party at Zouk on Friday, July 10 at 7.30pm. After months of physical and mental challenges, the 10 finalists will discover who among them has what it takes to walk away with over $19,000 worth of prizes and the coveted title of winner.
Now into its third year, Are You Men's Health Enough? is organised by Men's Health, Singapore's top men's magazine, published by SPH Magazines.
The event seeks to recognise society's unsung male role models - individuals who have overcome adversity to improve their own lives and inspire those around them.
They are ordinary men with an extraordinary drive to succeed despite the odds - your average guys-next-door made good.
This year's entrants include a recovered alcoholic, a geek-turned-image consultant and a young leader in his community, amongst others.
The winner will be chosen based on readers' votes at menshealth.com.sg as well as by a panel comprising the Men's Health editorial team. Judging criteria include the contestants' level of sportsmanship, mental aptitude and physical prowess.
Mr Ryan Reuben, Deputy Editor of Men's Health, says, "Whether it was the loss of a parent that created difficulty or being told they were 'never good enough', these guys proved they have what it takes to still realise their ambitions. At the end of the day, it's not just bulging biceps and a buff six-pack that is the measure of a man - it's the success story he has to tell. All 10 are already winners in their own right."
Mr Allen Loh, Managing Director, SPH Magazines, says, "Are You Men's Health Enough? is a natural extension of the Men's Health philosophy of inspiring guys to lead a healthy and balanced life. It is because of this that the magazine is the best-read men's title in Singapore with credible content that not only serves the reader, but has also convinced advertisers that it is an effective and reliable medium for their brand messages."
Ms Chuan Hui Min, OTC Brand Manager of Bayer HealthCare, agrees. "Berocca is proud to be the presenting sponsor for the event, as there is a strong link between both brands," she says, "Berocca is a unique multi-vitamin preparation which helps one stay ahead of the game, while Are You Men's Health Enough? is a search for the guy who is successful at his game."
Aside from the Are You Men's Health Enough? title, seven other subsidiary titles will also be handed out at the Finals. They are:
- The Most Lively Personality award by Berocca,
- The Best Skin award by Dermalogica,
- The Most Charismatic award by Kenzo Power,
- The Fittest Guy award by Polar,
- The Coolest Dude award by Puma Eyewear,
- The Best Groomed award by Redken, and
- The Live Life To The Fullest award by Tiger.
The winner of this year's Are You Men's Health Enough? will walk away with prizes including a $4,900 watch, a Phuket holiday stay, health supplements, fitness apparel, grooming products, footwear, eyewear and beer. The nine other finalists will each receive over $2,700 worth of prizes.
