
Her peers were busy stooping down or looking ahead for photo opportunities of monitor lizards and mangrove trees on a school trip to the Sungei Buloh Wetland Reserve two months ago.
But East Coast Primary School student Kim Navatey, 14, angled for a perfect shot by looking upwards instead.
It clinched her the honour of being the overall winner of the Green Carpet Awards 2012, beating 4,000 other participants.
Dr Francis Downey, vice-president of National Geographic Learning and one of the judges on the panel, said of the Primary Six student's entry: "One of the things she did was to really look around... the composition of the image was just superb."
