YOUNG, wild and, now, nominated.
Just two years after young & Wild started up, this training arm of local theatre company Wild Rice has scored a nomination for Best Ensemble in this year's Life! Theatre Awards.
It is the first time in the awards' eight-year history that the youth division of a theatre company has been nominated for the awards, and signals that efforts to groom a new generation of actors are paying off.
The production they were nominated for, Mad Forest, is only the second professional theatre production by the 14-member group.
Mad Forest by English playwright Caryl Churchill follows the events of the Romanian Revolution in 1989, when the communist regime of Nicolae Ceausescu was violently overthrown.
The young cast will know on March 24 if they have won. That's when the Life! Theatre Awards will be presented at News Centre, Singapore Press Holdings' headquarters in Toa Payoh North.
