PETALING JAYA, MALAYSIA - Actor Datuk Ahmad Mahmud died at 10pm last night due to kidney failure. He was 86.

He had been battling kidney failure for the last seven years, and had been undergoing haemodialysis treatment.

He leaves behind wife Datin Khatijah Mohamed, 84, three children, nine grandchildren and one great-grandchild.

According to a Malay tabloid, Ahmad was brought back to his home in Kampung Tunku here on Aug 18 from the intensive care unit of a hospital after his condition deteriorated.

His body will be laid to rest at the Bukit Kiara Muslim cemetery today after zohor prayers.
