TWO art auctions over the weekend were not spared the fallout from the global financial crisis with sales at one auction house going down by as much as half compared to six months ago.

Indonesian auction house Borobudur, which held an auction of 482 Chinese and South-east Asian artworks over two days at Grand Copthorne Waterfront Hotel, saw total sales plummet to $9.7 million.

Five months ago, it earned $20 million with about the same number of artworks.
