PETALING JAYA, Malaysia: India's richest Bollywood company views VCDs and DVDs piracy as an opportunity to capture more cinema goers in the country and for this reason it has invested RM100mil to build more cinemas in Malaysia.

Reliance Adlabs Films, which has a joint venture with Hollywood's blockbuster film production companies, sees its new Malaysian joint venture with the Lotus Group of Companies as a growing cinema market increasing at a rate of 25% per annum.

Reliance's Adlabs Films CEO Anil Arjun said:

"We see considerable potential in the vibrant cinema market in Malaysia with gross collections of RM300mil and increasing further.

Lotus group CEO Datuk Doraisingam Pillai said: "We are proud to be instrumental in getting the international cinema chain to Malaysia and believe that the best global practices of Adlabs will add tremendous value to the Malaysian movie industry."
