Rumours that have been circulating about Nur Sarah Abdullah, wife of former soccer player in Singapore, Fandi Ahmad, suffering from a stroke are false.

When contacted by Berita Harian (BH) on Tuesday, Fandi, who is currently based in Jakarta, clarified that his wife was not suffering from a stroke but in actual fact, was experiencing nerve problems after a fall last month.

The nerve injury caused Nur Sarah, also known as Wendy Jacobs, 35, to lose motor control of half her body. "However, Wendy's condition in improving and she has regained movement in her affected arm and leg." said Fandi, 46.

"I would rather this story not be publicised in the newspapers as it is a personal matter after all. I am worried that Wendy will not get sufficient rest if more people start visiting her," said Fandi.

Ms Illys Hanafi, 24, a fan of Fandi and Wendy, felt relieved to discover that the rumours about Wendy suffering from a stroke are not true, as reported by Berita Harian on Feb 25.

"I was shocked when I first heard rumours about Wendy suffering from a stroke. If they are indeed rumours, then that's great.

"We should be thankful to Fandi for being so honest with the media or we would still be depending on baseless rumours.

"From what I have read in magazines and newspapers, I always had the impression that Wendy is particular about her health and I sincerely hope that she has a speedy recovery," said Ms Illys.

Ms Illys also added that she is now more careful when she hears any rumours about celebrities.

Fandi married his wife, Wendy, in 1996. They have been blessed with five children - four sons and a daughter.

Fandi is presently based in Jakarta, Indonesia as the head coach of soccer club, Pelita Jaya.
