MALAYSIA: Hong Kong actress Cecilia Cheung Pak Chi has been spotted in a meeting with filmmaker Derek Yee Tung Sing just two months after announcing she would not be returning to the silver screen in the near future.
Nanyang Siang Pau quoted a source as saying that it was Cheung who had initiated the move by arranging for an appointment with Yee, who last directed the Shinjuku Incident, in Hong Kong recently.
"She had told Yee at the meeting that she loved one of his scripts and hoped to act in the movie," said the source.
The source added that Cheung even offered an 80% discount for her acting fees, lowering her salary to RM460,000 (SGD191,419.19).
However, the source said Yee might not accept Cheung as mainland authorities were very particular about actors, who had been embroiled in controversies.
Controversial pictures showing Cheung and actor Edison Chen in sex acts surfaced last year, forcing the actress, who is married to actor Nicholas Tse, to take a year break.
Cheung was also said to have brought her son Lucas to Taiwan recently in her bid to promote the boy with advertisers.
Cheung's father-in-law Patrick Tse was quoted to have said earlier that his grandchild was a "natural" in front of the camera.
