Akon set to thrill with beach party concert

PETALING JAYA, Malaysia: Mr "Lonely" will feel the warmth of Malaysian hospitality as thousands are expected to turn up for his concert in Petaling Jaya on July 2.

R&B star Akon, known for his single Lonely, will be belting out his hits in the "Akon Freedom Beach Party 2009" organised by Marctensia Sdn Bhd at the Sunway Lagoon Surf Beach in Petaling Jaya at 8pm.

"The concert will definitely be banging as it combines Akon's hottest club tunes mixed with the atmosphere of a beach party," said the company's marketing and communication department head Michael Chan yesterday.

"Akon promises to give his fans an unforgettable experience with his talented showmanship. One second he will be dabbling in emo-pop with Lonely and the next he will be singing about the street life in Ghetto," Chan said.

The event organiser, whose first high profile concert was the recently sold-out Jason Mraz gig, is also offering fans an exclusive early-bird nationwide sale from June 1 to 7 with 15% off tickets sold via official ticketing agent Axcess Tickets Sdn Bhd.

Tickets are priced at RM88 ($36.41), RM138 and RM188. All tickets are free standing.
