MUMBAI - Bollywood actor Shiney Ahuja was on Thursday remanded in custody for a further two weeks, as police continue their investigations into a claim that he raped his domestic maid.
A magistrate in Mumbai told the 36-year-old, who was arrested on Sunday at his home in the north of the city, that he will stay in police custody until another court appearance on July 2, Indian media said.
The prosecution told the judge that medical reports on the screen star and his alleged victim had not yet been completed. Blood tests to determine whether he was drunk or had taken drugs are also outstanding.
The 20-year-old maid, who was initially thought to be aged 18, filed a complaint with police, accusing Ahuja of raping her while his wife and child were out of the house.
Ahuja is a critically acclaimed actor and has starred in a number of Bollywood films, including "Hazaaron Khwaishein Aisi," (A Thousand Desires), "Gangster" and "Life in a Metro".
