Which are the transformers in demand? Kenny Chee on the toys to look out for.

OPTIMUS PRIME

Who: The charismatic leader of the Autobots - the good guys - who turns into a truck.

Features: Optimus Prime is one of the most popular toys here. In robot mode, he has a movie-accurate look, with sounds and lights. He can be combined with fellow robot Jetfire, which will be released here next Wednesday.

Price: $109.90 for the Leader Class version

MEGATRON

Who: The leader of the evil robots, called the Decepticons.

Features: This hot fave transformed into an alien jet in the first movie, but morphs into a tank in the sequel. He boasts a spring-loaded cannon that can be turned into a big claw.

BUMBLEBEE

Who: The heroic Autobot scout who uses radio soundbites to express himself.

Features: Bumblebee, a yellow Chevrolet Camaro, is a big seller and is sold out, but will be restocked next week. This toy sports re-tooled parts and cannons.

Price: $27.90 for the Deluxe Class version

THE FALLEN

Who: An ancient Transformer introduced in a recent comic series.

In the film, he has sinister plans.

Features: This villainous robot is a top seller. He changes from a jet into a robot with spring-loaded features.

Price: $51.90 for the Voyager Class version

DEVASTATOR

Who: This Decepticon was a weapon of destruction in the 1980s animated TV show, and now makes his movie debut.

Features: This behemoth of a toy stands about 60cm tall and is formed by six construction vehicles, including an excavator and a crane. The toy hits stores on July 26.

Price: $219.90

SIDESWIPE

Who: Autobot Sideswipe has his roots in the 1980s cartoon, and is making his movie debut.

Features: He's a Chevrolet Corvette with a big wow factor - flip-out swords when he's in robot mode.

Price: $27.90 for the Deluxe Class version
