Staying in the spotlight

Canadian actor Taylor Kitsch, 28, made a splash as mutant superhero Gambit in X-Men Origins: Wolverine, and will be starring in John Carter Of Mars, a movie based on the lead character in Edgar Rice Burrough's Barsoom books.

But the actor has no plans to ditch TV, where he got his big break.

After studying acting in New York, he was cast in the role of hard-drinking high school football player Tim Riggins in Friday Night Lights. The series chronicles a high school football team in a small Texas town.
