Lady Gaga has stirred controversy again.
The queen of pop, who recently performed to a crowd of 10,000 people at Fort Canning Park on Wednesday night, is known for her controversial fashion sense, humour and music videos but this time round, she is faced with online rumours about her being a hermaphrodite - an individual who has both male and female reproductive organs.
This unfounded rumour originated from a video footage of her performance at the Glastonbury music festival held in the United Kingdom in June.
The video clip, which has been posted on the Internet, shows her getting off a scooter in a micro-mini skirt with no underwear on, revealing something dangling between her legs. She then pulls her skirt down in front of the whistling crowd.
Since then, speculations of her being a hermaphrodite have been spreading like wildfire.
Although there has been no official statement from the New Yorker herself, an alleged online statement which claims to be from her says that she "is not ashamed of it" and that "it's not something she goes around telling people."
"Yes I have both male and female genitalia, but I consider myself a female," said Gaga in this so-called 'confession'.
Although some people have expressed disgust, fans have pledged their undying loyalty in her official website, stating that they "still love her" despite her being a man, a woman or both.
"I don't care what Lady Gaga is! It's about the music!," wrote a fan on August 6.
Another fan commented: "Lady Gaga is an amazing artiste with a unique and fabulous style. Just love her and everything she represents in the music and the entertainment industry."
Speculation of her gender has also made its way to Twitter, with tweets questioning whether she is a man or woman.
But it seems like the megastar had already addressed the hermaphrodite rumour during her recent concert in Manila on Tuesday night.
During her acoustic rendition of Poker Face, she said to the audience: "Somebody asked me very recently a very strange question.
"They said 'Lady Gaga, do you have a d**k?' and I said 'Yes I do, it's much bigger than yours.'"
Her humour never fails to amuse.
