AUSTRALIAN-BORN artiste Lenka (right) got her start on Australian TV, starring in soaps, dramas and in theatre productions.
But it is as a singer that she is making her mark.
The Los Angeles-based 31-year-old, whose full name is Lenka Kripac, has now lent her pipes to songs featured on TV shows like Ugly Betty, Grey's Anatomy, 90210 (the reboot) and the movie Angus, Thongs And Perfect Snogging (2008).
She released her debut album, The Show, last year.
Her catchy pop songs, mixed with layered world-music influences on tunes like The Show and Trouble Is A Friend, have scored her critical acclaim, and she's sold out several concerts in North America.
Singaporeans will be able to catch her live at Zirca Megaclub on Dec 17.
There, she will play a 60-minute set.
Her record label, Sony, said in a statement that her show will feature the work of her "partner in crime", designer/illustrator John Gulliver Hancock, the guy behind the charming visuals in the video for Trouble Is A Friend.
Expect a visual feast.
Lenka performs at Zirca Megaclub on Dec 17 at 7.30pm. Tickets at $45 (limited early-bird tickets are at $38) are available through Sistic (tel: 6348-5555, or www.sistic.com.sg).
