KUALA LUMPUR, MALAYSIA - The Storm Warriors blew into town with the cast and directors of the Hong Kong action movie attending a special promotional event here.
Stars Ekin Cheng and Aaron Kwok, who play Cloud and Wind, respectively, in the movie, appeared alongside directors Oxide and Danny Pang to launch the movie at Berjaya Times Square yesterday evening.
Storm Warriors (or Fung Wan in Cantonese - literally meaning wind and cloud) is the second movie based on the best-selling Hong Kong comic book by Ma Wing-Shing.
According to Oxide, the elder of the twin Pang brothers, there was never a doubt that Kwok and Cheng would reprise their roles despite the gap of 11 years between the two movies.
"Their portrayal of the characters in the first movie was such a success that we felt no one else could fit into those iconic roles," he said during a press conference at the Ritz-Carlton KL.
Cheng and Kwok were happy to reprise their roles but agreed their roles this time were vastly different.
"My character in this one is more mature than the last and the way he looks is also less cartoonish," said Kwok.
Meanwhile, Cheng said he had to put on a lot more make-up this time around.
"My character turns evil. So, I went through three hours of make-up every day to look the part," he said.
