Gary Chaw on one-year probation

MALAYSIAN singer Gary Chaw has been placed on one-year probation by a Hong Kong Court for fighting.

He was also ordered to post a HK$1,000 (S$180.12) bond on self-surety.

At the Eastern Magistracy on Friday, Chaw said he regretted the inconveniences he had caused to others.

He said he was under the influence of alcohol during the brawl with his buddy Justin Lo, a Hong Kong singer, on Sept 23 last year.

The judge warned Chaw that he could not get involved in violence, misbehave or cause any damage to public property, Ming Bao reported.

During last year's incident, Chaw and Lo were caught fighting on two occasions after a drinking session in the wee hours.

Police began investigations into the incident after photographs and videos of the brawl were circulated on the Internet.

Chaw was eventually charged with common assault.
