Chinese pop diva wows Malaysians

KUALA LUMPUR - Chinese pop diva Faye Wong wowed more than 8,000 fans at the Malaysian leg of her concert.

Wong, 42, made nine costume changes and delivered 23 of her favourite hits in Mandarin, Cantonese and English at the two-hour show in Bukit Jalil Putra Indoor Stadium last night.

Famously reticent, the singer let her vocals take centrestage, only addressing her audience with two words, "Thank you", (thrice in Mandarin and twice in Cantonese).

Her show featured visuals by Taiwanese director Muh Chen and lighting effects by Japanese designer Mitsumasa Hayashi as well as added input from Hong Kong film director Wong Kar Wai.

The Beijing-born songstress made her name in Hong Kong in the 90s and then took a hiatus in 2005 before returning to the stage last year.

Faye Wong 2011 Concert Tour Kuala Lumpur was organised by Running Into The Sun.
