Hong Kong star Andy Lau, who initially said he would raise his yet-to-be-born daughter in Malaysia together with wife Carol Chu, has had a change of heart.
He now intends to send Yun Shan, who will be born in June, to Edmonton in Canada to study when she is bigger.
According to Chinese media sina.com, the expectant father was looking to keep his daughter away from the prying eyes of Hong Kong's paparazzi and first settled on moving to Malaysia, where Chu is from.
But Lau decided against the idea, after considering his own popularity in Malaysia.
He has now set his sights on Edmonton, where his sister has migrated to. Lau is also believed to own properties there.
With a smaller Chinese community in Canada, Lau feels that his daughter will be kept away from the media, reports said.
In the meantime, the protective father-to-be has bought a RMB$80 million (S$13.9 million) "safe house" which will have round-the-clock security.
He plans to move Chu to the new mansion after renovations are complete, while he operates from his current residence in Kadoorie Hills in Ho Man Tin, which is just 5 minutes away.
