If anyone needs further proof that Jason Mraz has what it takes to inspire a whole new generation of guitar-strumming youth, just check out the jaw-dropping talent we have unearthed over the past month.
Through LOUD's Cover Contest, these budding musicians - from all walks of life - have shown us they have what it takes to be Singapore's Jason Mraz.
Here's a big round of applause to our three winners and Top 10 contestants - as picked by our judges, Mr Simon Nasser, general manager of Warner Music, Mr Danny Loong, Timbre co-founder and chief creative director and local band 53A frontman Sara Wee.
CHAMPION Jonathan Chan - cover of A Beautiful Mess
The bespectacled first-year undergraduate at Nanyang Technological University's School of Art, Design and Media, was over the moon when LOUD broke the good news to him.
"Wow, that's fantastic, I'm feeling overwhelmed right now," said the 22-year-old, who performs every Friday night at Beavers Pub on Liang Seah Street.
"I've a whole list of songwriter heroes, including John Mayer, Bon Iver and James Morrison. Jason Mraz is definitely one of my favourites."
He has snagged for himself a pair of tickets to Mraz's concert this Friday night at Gardens By The Bay, a Gibson hamper worth $550, Monster headphones, as well as an opportunity to perform in front of a live audience at Timbre.
As it turns out, the ardent supporter of Mraz had already bought his tickets for the gig.
"No worries man, I'm going to get two of my friends to come along," said Chan with a laugh.
He is also looking forward to taking the stage at Timbre.
"From this point onwards, I hope to pursue music more seriously.
"It's my dream to release my own albums, at least one, in this lifetime," said Chan.
"Besides doing songs, I've been penning originals and I hope to share them with as many people as possible."
"Good earnest effort. It captures the soulfulness of Mraz. At moments, it reminded me of Bob Dylan's vocal stylings combined with obviously-Mraz stylings which makes his video unique. Nice effort with the vocals and overall, the best for me because of the sincere effort and good video editing." - Danny Loong
