Premieres tomorrow, 9pm Diva Universal (StarHub Ch 522)
The highly addictive series Downton Abbey, which follows the lives of both the moneyed masters as well as the struggling servants of a manor in Britain, is finally airing its second season here.
The world of Downton Abbey moves into darker climes as war hits. The year is 1916, and Downton is turned into a medical hall, reminding those that live there that there is no true division in class - not when sons, fathers and brothers are being maimed and killed.
For Lord Grantham (Hugh Bonneville), the class divide begins to disappear as his younger daughters volunteer for war work (Sybil - played by Jessica Brown Findlay - volunteers in a hospital) and begin dallying with men previously considered to be beneath them.
The mix of characters in the series - which sees Maggie Smith excellently playing Lord Grantham's mother, Lady Violet Crawley - is still stunning and vibrant, and they get more depth as they move into the war's dark days.
