My all-time favourite five SRK movies

Shah Rukh's movies are a must-watch for my family in the theatre. After which we wait for the DVD to be released and immediately purchase it for viewing at home... many times.

So, you could say I am a die-hard SRK fan. And here are my favourite five SRK movies:

1 Dilwale Dulhaniya Le Jayenge (1995)

Such a lovely story, amazing scenery and melodious songs. I loved the second half of the movie - yes, I may be Singaporean but I'm "desi" at heart - shot in India. This movie was ranked by Indiatimes Movies among the 25 Must See Bollywood Films.

2 Dil To Pagal Hai (1997)

A dramatic, romantic musical blockbuster with memorable songs and superb dancing. Playing a young and bubbly character, Shah Rukh's super dialogue is what captured my attention. I even made my non-Indian friends watch the movie, with me playing translator. And they loved Shah Rukh's acting and Madhuri's dancing.

3 Kuch Kuch Hota Hai (1998)

Shah Rukh played two roles in this romantic comedy - a young lover and a single father - which is about first love. As if that's not enough, he was paired with my favourite heroine Kajol and their on-screen romance in the second half of the film is captivating. My children loved the young, charming college student role Shah Rukh played while I usually just watch the second half... repeatedly.

4 Kabhi Khushi Kabhie Gham (2001)

My all-time favourite - a melodramatic film with mesmerising songs, lovely costumes and scenes. And a large number of actors. My favourite song is Suraj Hua Maddham which portray Shah Rukh and Kajol in a romantic and flirtatious mood.

5 Rab Ne Bana Di Jodi (2008)

I like this movie for two reasons. Shah Rukh's ability to show a chameleon-like shift in personality - his transformation to Raj, a loud and fun-loving dance partner with an ulterior motive, to tempt his wife is very entertaining - and of course his name in the movie is almost the same as mine, Surinder Singh Sahni. There are other SRK movies such as Don, Main Hoon Na, Om Shanti Om, Duplicate and Baadshah that I have on DVD and watch often. But not as often as the above five.
