Singapore's police will install 300 cameras in HDB blocks and multi-storey carparks in a bid to deter and solve crime.
Footage from these cameras will be used to assist in police investigations, reported The Straits Times.
Feedback on the cameras, which will initially be installed in seven locations, including Bishan, Tampines and Woodlands, will be collected before the next phase of the plan starts in the fourth quarter of 2012.
This is part of plan to implement a new policing system that will leverage on technology that was announced in Parliament last March.
Under this plan, 10,000 cameras will be put up in entry and exit points by 2016.
