Shanmugam heads to Cambodia for 19th ASEAN Regional Forum

SINGAPORE - Minister for Foreign Affairs and Minister for Law K Shanmugam will be leading the Singapore delegation to the Post Ministerial Conferences (PMCs) and the 19th ASEAN Regional Forum (ARF).

The events are to be held in Phnom Penh, Cambodia, from July 10 to 13.

During the PMCs, the ASEAN Foreign Ministers will meet their counterparts from each of ASEAN's Dialogue Partners to review relations and ongoing cooperation.

These partners are namely, Australia, Canada, China, European Union, India, Japan, New Zealand, Republic of Korea, Russian Federation and the US.

Minister Shanmugam will be handing over the Country Coordinatorship of the ASEAN-Australia Dialogue to the Philippines and taking up the Country Coordinatorship of the ASEAN-Canada Dialogue from Thailand.

The ASEAN Foreign Ministers will also meet their counterparts from the ASEAN Plus Three and the East Asia Summit (EAS) to review regional developments and progress on their partnerships.

This is in view of realising the ASEAN Community-Building goals.

On July 12, the ARF Ministers will exchange views on key regional developments.

Minister Shanmugam will also conduct bilateral meetings with his counterparts at the sidelines of the meetings.
