SINGAPORE - Cosplay fanatics, take note: International Cosplay Day Singapore (ICDS) will be held on August 26, Sunday at Ngee Ann Polytechnic.
The event will be held in conjunction with International Cosplay Day - a global event to promote friendship and cultural exchange through cosplay - as well as Singapore's 2nd Annual Cosplay Chess show.
Cosplay enthusiasts will be able to dress up as their favourite characters and participate in the comic book, games and pop-culture convention, which is organised by Singapore-based cosplay blog Neo Tokyo Project (NTP).
There will be appearances by popular cosplay celebrities from the US such as Jerry Polance and Yaya Han. International Youtube stars of the show "Cosplay: The Series" will also be flying in from Indonesia to film two episodes based on the event.
The highlight of the day will be the Cosplay Chess segment. Cosplay Chess is a human chess game performed by actors playing popular pop-culture characters.
Last year's Cosplay Chess was attended by around 1,000 people, with People's Association Chairman Mr Yam Ah Mee making a special appearance.
This year, the two-hour theatrical production will pit characters from popular Japanese animation, games and manga against their American counterparts.
Other highlights at ICDS include an after party and concert. Attendees can have their picture taken for free by professional photographers.
Tickets for ICDS are priced at $5 and can be purchased at cosplay vendor Pan-In-The-Box and ticketing agents Gatecrash, STB TicketCube@Orchard, SingPost outlets, and SAM machines island wide.
An additional $1 ticketing fee applies.
Pre-purchased ticket holders will be entitled to expedited entry and a goodie-bag, subjected to availability.
