After 48 years of a dry medal spell, Singapore has come out triumphant at this year's Beijing Olympics.
After a nail-biting semi-finals match at the Beijing University Gymnasium, the women's table tennis team have shone through and guaranteed Singapore with at least a silver medal.
Despite Li Jia Wei less than stellar performance, the China-born team has proven their worth in Singapore's Olympics medal dreams.
The last time Singapore won an Olympic medal was when Tan Howe Liang nabbed a silver medal for weightlifting at the 1960 Rome Olympics.
In the AsiaOne forum, the mood did not escape our forumers.
They were reflecting their excitement as they watched the match - cheering and posting comments with every point won or lost.
One forumer, 'Sinagpore Chinese', said: "Total Score 3-2 against Korea!!! Feng Tian Wei has become Singapore's National Hero!!!! She has made all Singaporeans proud to clinch at least a silver medal in 2008 Women Table Tennis!
"I am crying now...what a fascinating game of Table Tennis!!!"
Another forumer, 'grumpy', showed some jubilation with: "A fantastic achievement by the team!"
AsiaOne forumers were definitely overjoyed with the team's performance with some like 'sintiow' going as far as predicting a gold for Singapore saying "No pressure on team singapore....china will be too stressed and will make mistakes"
And Feng Tian Wei was clearly the favourite among our forumers.
The Singapore table tennis team is ranked second in the world.
They will meet the victor of the other semi-final, China or Hong Kong, in the final of the team event.
The women's team final is on Sunday with the men's final on Monday.
