MONZA, Italy, Sept 14, 2008 (AFP) - Heikki Kovalainen had to hide his personal disappointment on Sunday as he admitted German Sebastian Vettel and his triumphant Toro Rosso team were unbeatable in the Italian Grand Prix.
"There was nothing I could do," he said. "I wanted to win. I am disappointed that I didn't win, but they did a fantastic job. So, clearly it was impossible to win."
He finished more than 12 seconds behind the triumphant 21-year-old from Heppenheim, who led from start to finish.
"Seb and Toro Rosso have been strong all weekend. I had a little bit of a problem in the early part of the race. In the first stint with extreme tyres, I was struggling to find any time to go faster, but towards the end it got a little bit better but I think it was the maximum we could do.
"All our troubles were related to the ambient temperature and how to get things working.
"It was just a bit difficult today, it wasn't easy for anyone today. I am sure some people had some problems with them, I am sure that is where the performance was today."
