MANCHESTER - MANCHESTER City manager Mark Hughes expects Brazil forward Robinho to make a quick recovery from an ankle injury.

Robinho, 24, was forced to come off in the second half of City's 3-0 win over Arsenal on Saturday after injuring himself while trying to score his second goal of the game.

With an important Uefa Cup tie against Schalke on Thursday, followed by a home match against Manchester United next weekend, Hughes can't afford to be without the former Real Madrid star.

'Hopefully it is not going to compromise Robinho too long,' Hughes said.

'He has gone over on his ankle. It is one of those things that hurts immediately for 30 seconds then calms down quickly. We do not think there is any long-term damage.' -- AFP
