LONDON - CAPTAIN Steven Gerrard was named in Liverpool's squad for their Champions League trip to Real Madrid after missing almost three weeks with a hamstring injury.

The inspirational midfielder tore a hamstring in his left leg in his side's FA Cup fourth-round defeat by city rivals Everton on Feb 4 and had been a doubt for Wednesday's last-16 first-leg encounter with the Spanish champions.

'Steven will be in the squad. He was okay in training this morning,' Benitez told the club's website on Monday.

'It was a special training session so we were not testing him one hundred percent, but he trained okay so we will see.'
