BRIDGETOWN, BARBADOS - Ramnaresh Sarwan was dismissed nine runs short of a triple century as West Indies passed England's first innings total to reach 607 for six at tea on the fourth day of the fourth test on Sunday.
Sarwan's majestic 291 from 452 balls, batting from the evening session on the second day, was his highest test score.
Wicketkeeper Denesh Ramdin, who shared a marathon 261 sixth- wicket partnership with Sarwan, also made his personal best, going in unbeaten on 101 at tea having made his maiden test century.
The pair had enjoyed a comfortable day's batting on a placid track against a tame English attack as West Indies took the game towards a likely draw.
Sarwan was eventually bowled by a beautiful late in-swinger from England left-armer Ryan Sidebottom, who had struggled throughout the innings.
Jerome Taylor took West Indies past the England first innings total of 600 in spectacular style with a six over square leg off Sidebottom.
