Expect surprises at Euro 2012

Denmark and Man United legend PETER SCHMEICHEL talks to SAZALI ABDUL AZIZ about England's chances, the EPL title race and what he thinks of United goalkeeper David de Gea

You were the star of Denmark's European Championship win in 1992. How do you think your country will fare at Euro 2012?

SCHMEICHEL: There's a really, really strong field at this year's Euro 2012.

When we won it 20 years ago, I remember there were just eight teams. Now, there are 16. So it's a lot more difficult to win it this time.

But in 2004, there was a similar format and Greece won it in Portugal.

Because the field is so strong, no two teams will win all the games.

They'll beat each other, so sometimes there could be surprise teams in the knockout rounds.

And as a team - it doesn't matter who you are, Malta or Germany - once you get to the quarter-finals, you'll feel you have a chance. And you lift your level that little bit.
