ALL Chinese newspapers front-paged the story of Andy Lau and his Malaysian girlfriend Carol Chu appearing at the KL International Airport together on Tuesday.
Sin Chew Daily even dubbed the photo of Lau holding Chu's hand at the airport as the "photo of the century" as it was the very first time the two had been captured as a couple.
Lau and Chu have been linked for 24 years, but Lau, 47, has never admitted to being married to Chu.
The couple arrived at the airport at 5pm with three bodyguards and two publicity officers.
However, the girl many believed to be the couple's daughter did not show up at the airport.
The daily said the two were initially holding hands but later tried to distance themselves from each other by allowing an assistant to stand between them when photographers started taking pictures.
Hong Kong media also swamped the airport to take photos of the couple when they arrived at 10.30pm on Tuesday.
Sin Chew Daily reported that Lau appears to have finally made up his mind to go public about his relationship with Chu as they walked out hand in hand from the arrival hall.
However, Lau remained quiet to a barrage of questions, including whether he would marry Chu within 100 days of her father's death and if they really have two kids.
Instead, he demanded that the media give them time and allow Chu to go home and rest.
Nanyang Siang Pau reported that Lau was trying to salvage his image when he allowed his photos to be captured when he went for Chu's father's seventh-day memorial service at the Hokkien cemetery in Kuala Lumpur.
The daily said Lau was feeling guilty for creating chaos at the senior Chu's funeral, which attracted a large group of reporters and photographers.
"Many readers and netizens also criticised him for being elusive at the funeral and showing disrespect to the deceased," it said.
