Stephen Chow's eagerly awaited movie Journey to the West: Fell Monsters Chapter, is set to hit cinemas during the Chinese New Year next year.
Major Chinese dailies quoted the Hong Kong actor-director as saying that he would not be taking on any roles in the film.
"I'm too expensive, I can't even afford (to hire myself)," he joked while releasing the first poster and teaser of the movie in Beijing, China, on Tuesday.
Producer Wang Zhonglei, however, said Chow did not want to act because he wanted to concentrate on his director's role.
Journey to the West: Fell Monsters Chapter will be the first film by Chow in four years after 2008's CJ7.
