MOM to review employers' obligations for maids

In response to employers of foreign domestic workers who are concerned over their maid's activities on a rest day, the Ministry of Manpower (MOM) stated today that it will be reviewing the obligations of employers.

Employers in Singapore have raised concerns regarding activities that their maids may engage in during their rest day.

MOM said that it is reviewing employers' obligations for medical and repatriation costs for exceptional circumstances that employers have little or no control over.

This is part of the review of the Employment of Foreign Manpower Regulations, which is to ensure a balance of rights and responsibilities between employers and workers.
