iOutreach community initative launched at National Day celebration

SINGAPORE - Over 2,000 residents from Woodlands were invited to the Woodlands Mega Sports Park for a National Day celebration, and to witness the launch of Singapore's first iOutreach initiative created by youths.

The iOutreach hopes to use technology to help build, bond and bridge communities in an ALL C.A.R.E. (All Channels, All Ages, All Races and All Estates) approach.

The initiative will allow Woodlands residents to register and "check in" at community events. It will also help Woodlands Grassroots Organisations (GROs) to analyse, understand residents and better tailor community activities to meet their interests.

Students from neighbouring schools put up cultural performances and a skit on anti-gambling.

More than 40 long service award recipients were also recognised and honoured on that day.

Minister for National Development, Mr Khaw Boon Wan attended the event as the Guest of Honour.
