SINGAPORE - Indonesian National Police (INP) chief General Timur Pradopo was conferred the Distinguished Service Order by Singapore's president Tony Tan Keng Yam for his outstanding contribution in fostering the bilateral relationship between the police forces of both countries.
He was awarded the Order at a ceremony held at the Istana on Thursday.
The Singapore Police Force (SPF) said in a statement on Thursday that they had benefited greatly from their close ties with the INP.
"Under the astute leadership of General Timur, the INP has successfully conducted several key counter-terrorism operations, thereby contributing significantly to the safety and security of the region. The SPF has also benefited from the valuable operational collaboration with the Indonesian National Police to bolster maritime security," said the SPF.
It added that General Timur's strong support was key to the continued deployment of police attachés to Jakarta, which has facilitated greater flows of information between both sides.
