World-class tennis in Singapore this weekend

SINGAPORE - Singaporean sports fans can witness world-class tennis action this weekend with the inaugural Clash of Continents tournament.

It will be held at the Singapore Indoor Stadium on Nov 24 and 25, and will feature four world-class male tennis stars each representing their continent - Europe, Asia, North America and South America.

World No.9 Janko Tipsarevic from Serbia will represent Europe while the current world no. 15 and the highest ranked Asian player on the ATP world tour Kei Nishikori will play for Asia.

American Sam Querrey, ranked No. 22, represent North America and world No. 12 Juan Monaco from Argentina; currently in career-best form will represent South America.

The round-robin tournament format will see the four tennis stars go head-to head in the battle for pride, honour and glory.

A total prize money of US$520,000 (S$637,000) is also at stake.

Singaporeans will also be treated to some fantastic women's action with glamour girls, Daniela Hantuchova (Slovakia) and Peng Shuai (China), to showcase their talents at the Singapore Indoor Stadium on Sunday.

Clash of Continents 2012 is co-organised by Game Changer, Sports Management Group (SMG) and the Singapore Tennis Association (STA) with the ambition of elevating the sport of tennis in Singapore and Asia to new heights through increased participation and spectator interest.
