GOMBAK, MALAYSIA - Initial fears that the notorious Kampung Baru molester was back after a nine-year-old girl was abducted last Saturday was quickly quashed by police.

Gombak OCPD ACP Abdul Rahim Abdullah said there were differences in this suspect's behaviour compared to the sexual predator who is still at large.

"The girl and her five-year-old brother from Kampung Selayang Indah were walking to a nearby sundry shop at 9pm when a man, in his 30s, wearing a sarong and T-shirt on a motorcycle approached them.

"The man told the girl to follow him on his motorcycle, leaving her brother behind," he said.

ACP Abdul Rahim said the suspect tried to lure her into a wooden shack.

"When she refused, he slapped the girl and she cried. He then brought her to a nearby wedding function, perhaps to calm her down."

Three hours later, the abductor left her in front of Sekolah Agama Selayang Indah almost a kilometer from where she was taken.

ACP Abdul Rahim said the suspect's modus operandi did not match that of the Kampung Baru molester.

On Aug 20 last year, eight-year-old Nurin Jazimin was found dead, naked and stuffed in a bag a month later.

On Jan 9, five-year-old Sharlinie Mohd Nashar went missing. Both cases are believed to be linked to the Kampung Baru molester.
