Noise, air pollution from work on KPE
Mon, Dec 31, 2007
The New Paper

I LIVE off Circuit Road in the MacPherson area, right smack along the stretch of construction work that is going on for the Kallang-Paya Lebar Expressway (KPE).

The large-scale construction work has caused much air and noise pollution. It doesn't stop on weekends, where work starts at around 9am on Saturdays.

For most Singaporeans, weekends are the only time we get to rest and sleep in later. But how can we do this, with the machines pounding away right under our block?

Residents are not compensated in any way for the inconvenience caused. Perhaps the most humane thing the Land Transport Authority can do is to stop the work on weekends.
