I HAVE been working in a local security firm for nearly two years and gave birth recently.
When I was pregnant, I worked into the night to set up two databases, but in the last month of my pregnancy, I was hospitalised and my baby arrived three weeks early.
My company was not pleased with the hospitalisation.
The director tried to terminate my employment during my maternity leave but he could not do it because of manpower regulations.
Then, he asked me to resign while I was on maternity leave.
I refused but when I came back to work after 12 weeks' maternity leave, I was served a one-month termination notice.
He found someone to replace me while I was away.
I tried getting help from the Manpower Ministry, but it said that as long as the company had served me notice, it could not help me in anyway.
I am really very disappointed with the 'limited' help I get from the Government.
I am so discouraged by this incident that I am thinking twice about having another child.
