We can learn from the elderly

The New Paper

I AM writing about the problem of the elderly who live alone and are neglected by their families and neighbours.

The first way to solve this is to show concern for our neighbours and people living around us by taking an active interest in them.

This does not mean being a busybody, poking our noses into their personal affairs.

We should also be more patient with our elderly ones.

Take time to listen to them and hear them out.

They have a vast wealth of experience that young ones do not have.

There is a limit to how much the Government can help.

We must not always expect people to aid us.

Instead, we have to solve the underlying problems first. And the answer to that is by showing love to these elderly ones, and in turn, we will be loved.
