'Poor service' incident taken out of context
Mon, Jan 28, 2008
my paper

I REFER to the letter on 'Shocked by behaviour of SQ leading stewardess' by Ms Tan Ai Ching Serene (my paper, Jan 23).

I am a frequent traveller who has flown on many airlines and, in my experience, the customer service rendered by Singapore Airlines has always been commendable.

I feel that Ms Tan was being unfair in accusing the Leading Stewardess of rude behaviour, as she was only asking her to share her newspapers with her parents.

In fact, if the stewardess had not done that, another passenger would have been deprived of the newspapers.

One must also note that Ms Tan's worry of being seen as 'greedy' by the other passengers was just her own perception.

There was no mention of anyone actually accusing her of being greedy.

In her frustration, she seemed to have taken the entire incident out of context by questioning if the 'poor' service rendered to her was because she was in the Economy class.

I travel on SIA's Economy class all the time and the service has always been commendable.

Keep up the good service, Singapore Airlines.
