The New Paper

I WOULD like to commend the various polytechnics on their advertising campaigns in light of the recent open-house period. The advertising blitz has been hard to ignore.

There have been television commercials and print advertisements from every polytechnic in Singapore to advertise their respective open houses to secondary school students looking to further their education.

A widely held belief among students and their parents has been that between choosing to go a junior college or a polytechnic, a junior college is often seen as the "better" choice.

However, judging by the huge turnouts of students at polytechnics' open houses, mindsets appear to be changing. Even the advertising methods have changed - and are still changing.

Thanks to multi-platform marketing, this has broadened the mind of individuals, especially those of parents. More appear to be encouraging their children to go to polytechnics and pursue their dream course.
