The New Paper

MONOPOLY is a classic board game that is widely played by many around the world.

Recently, the news was that Hasbro has decided to introduce a global edition of the game ("A spot in Monopoly's world edition?", The New Paper, 25 Jan).

The voting for the top 20 cities to be featured on the board is underway, but on the leaderboard of Monopoly's website, the current ranking of our beloved nation stands only at No 40, with 0.9 per cent of the votes.

Japan is at No 8 and Hong Kong at No 12.

With such a poor showing, perhaps the media can help in promoting the bid?

Singapore is now in the race to host the Youth Olympics, and we should not neglect any opportunity for it to make its mark on a global audience, however insignificant the opportunity may seem.

Let us all rally together and vote to get us into this history-making project!
