Don't kill stray dogs - rehome them instead

The New Paper

THE Agri-Food & Veterinary Authority (AVA) should do more than just round up stray dogs to be killed.

AVA can consider rehoming these dogs as they were likely abandoned.

Perhaps some were abandoned because of HDB restricting dog ownership to a list of small dogs, making an outcast of local dogs.

There have been repeated appeals from animal lovers to restrict or even impose a total ban on the import and breeding of dogs to deal with the problem of abandonment.

AVA can also consider intensive sterilisation as a humane approach to the problem of stray dogs.
