Train etiquette in HK and Taiwan
Thu, Jun 12, 2008
my paper

I REFER to the two letters on giving up seats on public transport in Singapore (my paper, June 11).

I have noticed that commuters in Hong Kong and Taiwan seem to be able to follow rules to keep left or right on the escalators.

I have also not seen people there rushing for seats.

The commuters, especially men in uniform, would readily offer their seats to those who need it.

Let's learn from them and be good Singaporeans, so that everyone can live in a happy, peaceful and harmonious environment.
