More charity efforts from companies

my paper

I FELT very touched after reading the Feel Good Monday report, 'Realtors with big hearts' (my paper, Dec 15).

The 90 or so real-estate agents from HSR Property Group are doing good deeds for the underprivileged in society, and I applaud them for their actions.

I hope other corporations and business owners who can afford it will follow suit, especially during these times of economic uncertainty. As a grassroots leader, I have come across several organisations which contribute to the community.

They have tirelessly given time, money, manpower and food, among other things, to needy families, the elderly and the disabled.

Often, these organisations shy away from the limelight and continue carrying out their good deeds during the evenings and weekends, far away from the public eye.

Welfare and charitable organisations which mostly depend on public donations and limited funds from the authorities are often stretched to their limit.

Thus, corporate organisations and medium enterprises could be more proactive in their sponsorships or donations, and encourage volunteerism among their employees.

Kudos to the great people at HSR Property Group and other unsung heroes.

Mr Muhammad Dzul Azhan Haji Sahban
