Rent income used to settle arrears
Fri, Oct 23, 2009
my paper

I REFER to the letter by Mr David Soh Poh Huat, "Can HDB make exception?" (my paper, Oct 20).

We work closely with flat owners in financial straits to find a sustainable housing solution.

One of the options is to sublet their flat.

Before we approve such requests, we will work out an instalment plan so flat owners can settle their outstanding payments using the rental income.

This is necessary to safeguard flat owners' interests and to help prevent further accumulation of mortgage debt. Mr Soh's friend could contact Ms Christina Quek on 6490-2263 to provide more details so that we can review the case and see how best we can help.
