WE REFER to Ms Marliah Ismail's letter, "Build barriers on pavement to deter errant motorcyclists" (my paper, Oct 27).
Her block is eligible for the Lift Upgrading Programme (LUP) and residents will be informed as soon as the LUP plan for their precinct is finalised for implementation.
She suggested barriers be built on the pavement near Marsiling Primary School to prevent motorcylists from illegal parking there.
However, it is not practical to do so as the common property is too large for such exclusion measures to be carried out effectively.
Such barriers will also deny needy residents of barrier-free access, and will hamper maintenance work.
We urge motorcyclists to abide by parking rules so as not to cause inconvenience to others.
The Town Council will continue to monitor the situation and carry out enforcement measures, like issuing summonses.
