Is it a must to give up your seat?
There are no rules saying you must. The aunty should not behave as if it is her right.
She claimed the younger woman kept staring at her. But how could she know unless she stared back? Staring is like clapping, it takes two.
She mentioned that the other woman must be from China, so I assume she is Singaporean. Then she should know that we Singaporeans practise courtesy.
My advice to her is that the next time anyone offers her a seat, with or without asking, just grab it with a smile and a thank you.
